Background

This waiata was written by Hirini Melbourne, a respected composer of Tuhoe. A student visited him and told him of his troubles.

He asked that the winds of Tawhirimatea to blow away his problems and troubles. This reference provides the foundation to this waiata.

This student was Kiwi Tutëao who was blind student of Waikato University.
